How a Revised Loading Plan Saved 35% on Shipping

A screw-press shipment was redesigned to fit one 40HQ container instead of a 40HQ plus a 20GP.

Equipment loading arrangement from the G-LINK shipping case

A European client needed to ship several screw presses. Standard packing required 1 × 40HQ + 1 × 20GP container. Timing was bad: Europe freight rates were spiking.

The client asked if we could fit everything into just 1 × 40HQ to cut costs. The standard answer from most suppliers: “Not possible.”

What we did

We worked with the factory through multiple loading-plan iterations:

  • Split integrated equipment into modular pieces for more flexible positioning.
  • Shipped equipment bare, without wooden crates, to save space.
  • Minimized clearance between items.
  • Built a steel base frame to bolt all equipment down, since tight spacing prevented traditional container securing.
  • Added anti-collision airbags between equipment for extra protection.

Result

We eliminated the 20GP container entirely. The client saved 35% on total import shipping costs during a freight-rate surge.

The takeaway: “Not possible” often just means “we haven't tried hard enough yet.”
